Hope Twinkles Fall 2024 - Help for Hurricane Disaster
Sunday, September 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
in the Collegedale SDA Church – South Atrium
This year, 2024, gets two Hope Twinkles events! The first one, in the spring, built the Nicola Scholarship Fund.
But then. . . Hurricane Beryl happened . . . and St. Vincent Island and the Grenadines saw enormous devastation. On Union Island and Mayreau, two of the smallest inhabited islands, over 95% of the buildings were decimated. Carriacou and Petite Martinique bore the brunt of the first landfall of the hurricane’s force and are almost unrecognizable. In just 30 minutes, trees are gone, houses are demolished, even the larger buildings are uninhabitable. Drinking water is still a precious commodity, and as of the end of July, most communities still don’t have power.
We’re partnering with Shelter Box USA to provide tents, tarps, building tools, mosquito nets, blankets, and cooking equipment for the families who are still living in emergency shelters. Most of those shelters are schools, which means the school year can’t begin until families have somewhere else to go.
12 hours of continuous music-making to raise awareness and funds for our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean who need places to live.
Please encourage your young string players to come play during whatever part of the day they can, and ask friends, family members and others to sponsor those precious playing hours.
See you at Hope Twinkles!
