See you at Hope Twinkles!

Hurricane Helene tore through North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee in the fall of 2024.  Houses were washed away, hospitals flooded, whole towns were devastated.  Mudslides and 30-foot flood waters claimed lives, homes, businesses, cars, pets and everything in the path.  What made clean-up and rebuilding even more difficult was the lack of flood insurance on most of the properties.

Many charities and other entities have stepped up to help clean up and rebuild paces like Asheville, Erwin, Craigtown, Lake Lure and more.  They have provided everything from food and water to clothing, shelter, building supplies, roadwork and hard work.  But the heart and soul of Appalachia has always reverberated with music.  And musical instruments are considered non-essentials when it comes to life-saving work.

Yet we, as musicians and music lovers know differently.  We know music is absolutely essential to healing the heart and soothing the soul.

ReString Appalachia has risen to meet that need, deemed non-essential by many, but absolutely vital to the hearts and souls of the Appalachian communities most impacted.  Their mission is to help replace musical instruments for professionals, teachers, students, symphony musicians, folk musicians, and folks for whom music is their solace.  You can read more about ReString Appalachia on their website: restringappalachia.org

2025’s Hope Twinkles dedicates 12 hours of continuous music-making to bring music back to the Appalachians!

Any string player can come play with Hope Twinkles.  And every player needs sponsors. . . .someone who will donate in recognition of the playing time invested.  Please see the Donation Page for more.
